Mastodynia, also known as mastalgia, is a medical term for breast pain. The pain can be cyclic (related to the menstrual cycle) or non-cyclic (unrelated to the menstrual cycle). One effective treatment for mastodynia is Indole-3-Carbinol, a compound found naturally in certain vegetables like broccoli, kale, and cabbage. Indole-3-Carbinol is known to influence estrogen metabolism in the body. This property is beneficial in treating mastodynia and other conditions related to hormonal imbalances.

Mastopathy is a breast gland disorder characterized by the formation of cysts and fibrotic changes in the breast tissue. These changes can include fibrocystic areas, fibrous nodules, or cysts. This condition affects many women and can cause various symptoms, including pain, tenderness, and uncomfortable changes in the breasts. Indole-3-Carbinol is beneficial in the treatment of mastopathy because it helps maintain hormonal balance, reducing the likelihood of developing fibrocystic changes in the breasts.

The difference between Indonal Forte and Indonal Woman

Articles and studies

Indonal Forte and Indonal Woman contain the same main active ingredient, Indole-3-Carbinol, and thus have similar therapeutic effects. However, Indonal Forte has a higher content of this main active ingredient, specifically 50 mg more per capsule, and also includes curcumin, which has chemopreventive effects (the ability of certain substances to prevent, delay, or reduce the risk of cancer), and piperine, which enhances the effectiveness and absorption of the active ingredients. Therefore, if you do not have an allergy to curcumin, we recommend choosing Indonal Forte. If you are taking Indonal preventively or have an allergy to curcumin, we recommend Indonal Woman.

Indole-3-carbinol is a phytochemical obtained from cruciferous plants. After its consumption, several oligomeric components with different biological effectiveness are formed, including 3,3'-diindolylmethane. They are characterized by anti-estrogenic and anti-proliferative activity. Studies have yielded positive results when investigating the effect of indole-3-carbinol in various oncological diseases, demonstrating beneficial changes in estrogen metabolism. The use of indole-3-carbinol is applied in the prevention and treatment of papillomatous diseases caused by human papillomavirus, as well as in endometrial cancer and early stages of breast cancer. By influencing estrogen metabolism, glucose metabolism, and reducing insulin resistance, it appears to be a promising adjunctive treatment in polycystic ovary syndrome. Indole-3-carbinol is considered safe even with long-term use.

Recent research, including studies in labs and on people, shows that a substance called indole-3-carbinol may help prevent various cancers, including breast cancer. When taken by mouth, indole-3-carbinol can positively impact how our bodies handle estrogen. It changes the balance between two types of estrogen metabolites, where one type is linked to a higher risk of breast cancer, and the other is associated with a lower risk. This suggests that indole-3-carbinol could be a good option for clinical trials in women with an increased risk of breast cancer. Additionally, it seems to selectively target and stop the growth of breast cancer cells without affecting normal breast cells.

The indole derivative, indole-3-carbinol (I3C), is a naturally occurring substance in cabbage plants. This substance inhibits cell proliferation, arrests the cell cycle in the G1 phase, and induces apoptosis, thereby suppressing tumorigenesis. Its use could thus help in the prevention and treatment of some diseases, including cervical lesions. However, the molecular mechanisms by which indoles suppress tumorigenesis are not precisely known. Women with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia II and III (CIN II/III) have a lower 2:16α-hydroxyestrone ratio compared to women with physiologic findings on the cervix. I3C effectively increases the 2-hydroxylation of estrogen in liver cells and promotes the formation of 2-hydroxyestrone at the expense of 16α-hydroxyestrone. I3C could, therefore, be used as an adjunct in the treatment of cervical lesions. However, its application is broader. Currently, several preparations and nutritional supplements containing indole-3-carbinol are available on the market. The recommended daily dose of I3C is 200-400 mg twice daily for...

Dangerous Estrogen Dominance and I3C

Dangerous Estrogen Dominance and I3C

Articles and studies

Dr. John Lee was the first to use the term: "estrogen dominance", and spent several years searching for the cause of women's problems such as PMS, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, fibroids, breast cancer, infertility, osteoporosis and menopause. Based on his clinical experience of women's health and also from published research, he came to the conclusion that the health problems of many women (but also men) are caused by the excess of estrogen present. Estrogen has three basic types: estradiol, estrone, and estriol. Estradiol controls female sexual development, promotes the growth and function of female genitalia and secondary female sex characteristics, and participates in bone mineral homeostasis.
